Januarie York - Portfolio includes, the humanities, curriculum design, arts and culture, community building.Januarie York is a freelance writer, published author & poet and creative curator. She was recently named the Center for Black Literature and Culture's first Poet Laureate. In addition to performing original works of poetry, she has produced several of her own spoken word theatrical shows that focus on uplifting and inspiring women. Januarie has released two spoken word albums, 3 books of poetry and essays, and runs an online magazine publication called, "LiT Magazine." She has also acted in several plays including “For Colored Girls Only, for which she wrote two original works for. She resides in Indianapolis, IN, where in addition to curating poetry shows, she has created several community healing events and developed a poetry activity book based on increasing Black well-being. She also works with the 46208-based organization "The Learning Tree" as the "Cultivator of Joy." Her work is displayed in several areas in downtown Indianapolis, including the Circle Centre Mall and she recently wrote and recorded the opening poem for the nationally recognized Major Taylor exhibit at the Indiana State Museum. You can find more about her workshops, performances, and upcoming events at januarieyork.net. JADA FORDJada Ford is a Certified Nurse Aide. She works for the Congregational Care Network. In her work she improves health outcomes for residents located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Formerly the Assistant Director for JSP (Jubilee Summer Program) Roving Youth Corp. Her role was to establish relationships and connect with neighbors in her community. Jada has brought her Roving Listening experience to The Learning Tree and is currently deployed in the Riverside neighborhood.
